Saturday 24th August 2019 – Cairns Festival Grand Parade and Fireworks.
Meeting Time: 4.30pm at St Monica’s (corner of Minnie and Lake Streets)
The parade starts at 5pm. The route will head from Munro Martin Park to the Esplanade so should be able to get some great shots as they head east along Minnie St before they reach the Esplanade, shooting into the late afternoon sun.
The parade usually finishes up around 7.30pm and then the grand finale of fireworks will go off at a scheduled time of 7.30pm. A great spot for capturing the fireworks is at the southern end of the lagoon on the jetty out the front of the gelato bar/Salt House area, as there are less people and no trees blocking your view.
Thousands of people come to this event so it may be a good idea to get there early to get a parking spot. With this in mind, dinner, for those who would like to continue on afterwards, will be at The Vine Room, 121-123 The Esplanade (just across the road from the RSL) Booking is for 8pm.
